Former New Mexico judge arrested for housing alleged Tren de Aragua gang member

A former New Mexico judge and his wife have been arrested by federal agents for housing an alleged gang member.

On Thursday, former Doña Ana County Magistrate Judge Joel Cano and his wife, Nancy Cano, were taken into custody.

According to Fox News, federal agents raided the couple’s home in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

The former judge and his wife face two charges of evidence tampering for allegedly harbouring an alleged illegal immigrant and gang member.

Cristhian Ortega-Lopez, who was being housed by the Canos, is an alleged member of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

The alleged gang member’s capture follows an incident in February when Ortega-Lopez was apprehended at the Cano home.
