Ring Sizer

Here are a few tips for getting the best measurement:

  • Always measure the finger at the end of the day when the finger is at it's largest.
  • Do not measure the finger when hands are cold. Fingers are smaller when cold.
  • Whole sizes closest to the exact size usually work very well.  

Most rings are in whole sizes only. Some rings can be sized by a jeweler after the purchase. However, not all rings can be sized due to the design, pattern or other factors. For example, a continuous pattern all the way around a ring usually can not be sized without some effect on the design. 

To determine the size of an existing ring, slide the ring down a tapered candle. Using a string or strip of paper measure around the candle where the ring stops. Mark with a pen at the point where the string/paper overlaps. Measure that length from the starting end to the pen mark in millimeters (mm) (on most rulers) and use the chart below to determine the ring size.
